Lieder der Hutterischen Brüder, 40
They struck the true rock nailing Christ to the cross and the water of life broke forth. Of that we now drink when he gives us the cup and says, “Here, take it with joy!”
The cup is the suffering of Christ.
The Holy Spirit wants to make us like Christ, by giving us his cross to carry on earth. Let us carry it to the end until he rescues us from our misery! If we want to inherit the Kingdom with Christ we must die with him. Therefore he gives us the cup. Let us follow him and let go of ourselves and for the blood he poured out for us!
This is how the wheat gets ground.
God says he will write his will on our hearts and that it shall stay with us forever. Then we shall confess him, call him Father, and the love of his Spirit will burn in our hearts.
Let us live in the fear of God so that we may know him and rejoice in his blessing. If we serve him from hearts’ desire he will be blessed in us, and we may rejoice in life with him forever!
