Lieder der Hutterischen Brüder, 506
Look at what Christ has shown us: Two ways, one leading to life, the other to destruction. Many choose the latter because they follow the serpent’s counsel and live in sin. Therefore, watch out! Subdue the flesh to escape the open jaws of death.
Crafty sin rises up within us. Knock it down with the power of God! Do not let it control you or take the upper hand. The flesh, if given its own way, leads us into places of which we will be deeply ashamed when the Light breaks and the Morning Star rises in our hearts.
Flee the dark shadows of the world! Do not let your flesh control your affections. The things that tempt you now are laced with poison and bitter gall. God will throw out those that dabble with strange sins, but he will purify those that walk by his mind and will.
